Hello Súpa Nation! Spring is finally here and we couldn't be more excited about all of the fresh new ingredients that are popping up at the market. What a delicious time of year! We are looking forward to sharing the best the harvest has to offer. Watch for new spring inspired soups and salads to be making their way into the shop over the coming weeks. Is there anything more delicious than spring peas and asparagus? We think not!! It's time to get fresh!!!
It's been an exciting few weeks here at Construction Camp: Supa! I am happy to report that we got through all of our health dept plan reviews along with our building permit and plan review. Go Team G0!! We are approved on all fronts and all systems go. Demolition derby is behind us, thankfully, and after a good scrub, we have a clean canvas to move our vision forward. We are excited to be working with the worlds best all girl crew that is taking no prisoners during our build out marathon. A huge shout out to Katie, Gabby and Glenda for all your hard work, as well as Albertha for her keen design eye and invaluable input.
Well hello Súpa!Nation! For all three of you that may read this, here we go...starting a food business is a wild and crazy ride, certainly not for the faint of heart. Almost a year and a half after hatching sneaky plans for world domination, one cup of soup at a time, we have finally hit a major milestone. Today I officially was handed over all the keys to our awesome new space. What an incredibly exciting day. It occurred to me that it might be kind of fun to share our journey, especially as we go through the build out process and ramp up for our grand opening. So I decided that I will begin shooting a daily-ish video diary of the build and keep a regular blog to share the process. Now, while I doubt we will be landing this on the food network anytime soon, Chef Ramsey, if you're reading this, call me!!! I hope you enjoy the videos. Thank you so much to everyone who has been so incredibly helpful along the way.
Thanks to some wonderful supporters in the Pearl District, we have had a blast catering some well attended events for the residents of the Wyatt and 10th & Hoyt communities. We were thrilled to be a hit with the young crowd, enough to inspire the addition of the Súpa! Jr combo on our upcoming menu. It will feature a kid friendly size cup of soup, half a meltie (with or without the crust) and a juice box or milk. Bon Appetite our pint sized patrons!!
Breaking news...The SúpaMobile hits the streets of Portland tomorrow, March 12, 2013!! Time to get your soup on people!! We are also happy to announce the hiring of our first official Súpa! employee. A hearty welcome to the Súpa! family Glenda, we are so thrilled to have you on board. It's been a bit of an uphill battle to get our mobile endeavor off the ground but we are confident that "If we cook it, they will come..." If anybody has any suggestions or requests for lunch stops, give us a shout, we're all ears. Thanks again to the Súpa! faithful for your continued support and encouragement
Hello friends! Greetings from the soup kitchen. The clock is ticking down to the official launch of the SúpaMobile! We are getting so very close to hitting the streets of Portland to feed the peeps. It's been a busy week. Friday was our latest test kitchen event and we were thrilled with the final tasting of the soup recipes that will be featured on the truck. Awesome work Chef Dwayne!! Also a big thank you to Katie and Albertha for braving a soggy night to come out and taste. We are working hard to find locations for our lunch service, if you have any ideas or suggestions, please don't hesitate to give us a shout.
We also wanted to thank Erika and Stephanie from the Thrive truck for being so generous with their time and information. You girls make amazing food and it's so great to have new food trucker buddies!! Thank you so much! http://www.thrivepacificnw.com Check them out Portlanders, they make yummy food!!!
Ok, back to the stock pot for me, stay tuned for the continuing saga of a girl and her soup spoon....
Hello friends! What a wild and crazy adventure this has been, and we are just getting started! We just wanted to start by saying thank you to everyone who has been so generous with their time, spirit and support as we work to launch this hearty little endeavor. There will no doubt be many tales to tell in due time, but for now, we just feel grateful to have had so much encouragement, support and love. The Súpa! experience is all about community and comfort and so far you all have surrounded us in it. Thank you!!
We hope that our food will speak volumes and surround you in comfort and give back every ounce of your amazing generosity. Stay tuned for tales of our amazing journey....
